Anatoly Karpov will put forward his candidacy to become FIDE President, according to reporters of Russian news agency SarInform. “It is necessary to restore order,” the 12th World Champion reportedly said yesterday.

GM Wesley So is up in the March 1, 2010 World FIDE ratings list at No. 66, up by 13 spots from 77 last January 1. He is also 6th in the World Top Juniors, behind the No. 1 Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Sergey Karjakin, Quang Liem Le, and Fabiano Caruana.
