The young kid from Norway, GM Magnus Carlsen, has finally achieved his goal, i.e., to top the FIDE ratings list. Through the help of the great Garry Kasparov, the next on his list would definitely be the World Crown. We have to watch out for that. On the other hand, with his impressive performance in the World Chess Cup 2009, Wesley So increased his ELO Ratings to 2656, to reach as high as No. 77 in the ratings list. This could have been the highest so far achieved by a Filipino.

Magnus Carlsen Losing His Magic?
The young Magnus Carlsen finds himself tied at the fourth place after round 4 in the Tal Memorial 2009 tournament.
All games were drawn, except one: Vladimir Kramnik beat Peter Svidler in an Exchange Grünfeld that looked quite effortless on the part of the former World Champion. Magnus Carlsen, it was revealed, is suffering from a throat infection and has played his last three games with A fever. The Norwegian is now on antibiotics.
