Not to sound bitter on the loss of GM Wesley So against GM Anish Giri in the last Corus Tournament, but I would really love to see this match push through. Nothing to prove, nothing to lose. Just to fulfill the fancy of the fans.

It's a grand slam for GM Wesley So in the 3rd Battle of GM's held in Tagaytay. Three in a row for this local tournament featuring the other top Grand Masters of the country. Congratulations Wesley!

The Third Battle of GM's 2010

The 3rd battle of grandmasters is ongoing, in Tagaytay. Unfortunately, there's no official website. Gonna post soon about the results.

From the latest count, GM Wesley So has been trailing GM John Paul Gomez in second place.

Still can remember the first version of that tournament where So bagged the grand prize--photos of which were posted here.

Wesley So Finishes 2nd in Asian Individual Chess Championship 2010 in Subic

GM Wesley So finishes with 6.5 points out of 9 rounds to tie in the 2nd place with 3 others. He clinched the 2nd place after the tiebreak. Just 0.5 points behind the champion, Ni Hua of China. So and Ni Hua faced each other in the 7th round where the former lost the game.

Wesley So defeats Ruiyuan Yu of China in Round 8 to share the second place with 3 others in the Asian Individual Chess Championship in Subic, Philippines. Ni Hua is still on the lead.

GM Wesley So slides to 6th place (after tiebreaks) when he lost to Ni Hua in the 7th round of the Asian Individual Chess Championship in Subic. Check out the results here.

Wesley So is 64th in the World

GM Wesley So is up in the March 1, 2010 World FIDE ratings list at No. 66, up by 13 spots from 77 last January 1. He is also 6th in the World Top Juniors, behind the No. 1 Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Sergey Karjakin, Quang Liem Le, and Fabiano Caruana.

Aeroflot Chess 2010 Final Standings

After Wesley So settled for draws in the 8th and 9th (last) rounds of the tournament, he placed 11th after the tiebreak with 5.5 out of 9 games, with three wins, five draws, and one loss. Nevertheless, he earned the top junior champion title.

Wesley So Draw in Round 6 and 7 of Aeroflot Chess 2010

2 more rounds to go, and GM Wesley needs to win the next and last two games, in order to post a convincing win of the title. As of end of Round 6 (Round 7 is not yet for the other games as of press time), So is tied for 4th to 14th place, being half a point behind the three leaders.
