I do think that whoever wins this match-up will eventually bag home the Batumi Olympiad title. For a bolder prediction: this will all boil down to the single game: Caruana vs. Mamedyarov, World No. 2 vs. No. 3!
Seven rounds down, four more to go. Who’ll win this year’s title?
Something is wrong with this list. Where’s the 2nd seed, Russia? Their dominance is really over?
Close call, but a win is a win anyway. Now, Team Philippines (Open) is at 61st place after 7 rounds of Batumi Olympiad.
You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player.
The excellent performance of the Philippines Women’s team (Seed #43), especially in Round 5 where they drew against England (Seed #25), and won against Spain (Seed #15) had them pretty well seated at 19th place at the end of Round 6. Great job, ladies!
Mind you, the top seed USA is still lurking behind in just the 3rd place (after tiebreaks). Their strategy might be to let the competition terminate each other and they deliver the last blow in the end.
